Prime Minister’s Employment Generation Programme 2008 (PMEGP)
The Prime Minister’s Employment Generation Programme 2008 (PMEGP) is a credit-linked subsidy program to generate employment in rural as well as urban areas. Eligibility is for anyone above 18 years of age who has not availed of any other scheme. Minimum Std VIII pass for above Rs 10 lakh projects in the manufacturing sector and above Rs 5 lakh for the service sector. The beneficiary only needs to put in 5 to 10 percent of the cost of the project depending upon the category.
